Common Questions

Q: How much maintenance is involved in a log home?

A: All homes require maintenance no matter what they are built of.  Any wood exterior home will need periodic cleaning and finishing.

With log homes, the location of the home, sun exposure, size of overhangs, etc., play a roll in the frequency required for staining.  As a general rule, stain applied according to manufacturer’s recommendations should last from 3-6 years.

Q: What is the cost for a custom log home?

A: It depends on the size and design of the home.  As no two homes are alike, there is no set formula to price a home.  Beware of builders who quote home costs based solely on square footage.  We will work with you throughout the design process to keep you informed of how changes in design will affect the final cost of your home.

Q: How will the plumbing and wiring be handled?

A: This is where it pays to hire an experienced log home builder.  Hours of thought go into designing the plan on your electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems to ensure that these systems are hidden from sight.  Most can be run through conventionally framed interior walls.  Wall outlets are drilled through the logs to the basement/crawl space and  fished up later.  Wires to switches usually run along door bucks and holes are drilled to switch locations.
